Valetudo runs only on models with a documented rooting method, and revisions of the same model can differ. A serial or PCB mismatch means the robot cannot be flashed at all, so the exact board must be verified before purchase.

Rooting requires physical access

Most robots must be opened and rooted over UART or an FEL flash. It voids the warranty, and newer firmware is increasingly locked down, so known-rootable used hardware is often the practical path.

Rooms need re-mapping after flashing

The robot re-maps the home after flashing, and segments must be matched to Home Assistant areas before per-room cleaning works. Valetudo publishes the live map locally, but the vendor app's cloud features are no longer available.
